 Scott Pilgram VS The World. Fun comic book adaptation about a slacker musician who must vanquish all seven of evil exes of the girl of his dreams in martial arts battles in order to win her love. (4 stars out of 5)
 Letters to Juliet. Pretty good romantic drama about a young American woman vacationing in Verona, Italy, whose response to a letter addressed to Shakespeare's tragic heroine Juliet Capulet sets in motion a series of events that leads her -- and the missive's lovelorn author-- in search of romance. (4 stars out of 5)
 A Christmas Carol. Good adaptation of Charles Dickens's iconic holiday tale about a miserable miser who is confronted by the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come. (4 stars out of 5)
 Cairo Time. Dull romance about a magazine editor who travels to Cairo and falls in a complex relationship with her husband's friend. (2 stars out of 5)
 Agora. OK period piece about a young slave who weighs his desire for freedom against his growing love for his mistress, an atheist as well as a professor of philosophy. (3 stars out of 5)
 Exam. Twisty movie about eight job applicants who are given instruction, exams and 80 minutes to answer one discerning question that may win them a prime position. (4 stars out of 5)

 Smash His Camera So so documentary about the controversial life and career of pioneering paparazzo Ron Galella. (3 stars out of 5)
 A Mother's Courage: Talking Back to Autism. Stupid documentary about a mom who is on a quest to find answers about autism, a condition that confounds traditional medical practitioners and renders her 11-year-old son unable to communicate. (2 stars out of 5)
 The Girl Who Played With Fire. Good thriller about a tech expert who becomes the prime suspect when two journalists, including die after a magazine publisher launches an exposé of the Swedish sex trade. (4 stars out of 5)
 Ajami. OK average drama about a 13-year-old boy who must start selling drugs to pay a fine he owes. (3 stars out of 5)
 OSS 117 Lost in Rio Funny comedy about an outrageously chauvinistic French secret agent who journeys to Cold War-era Rio de Janeiro to recover a top-secret microfilm. (4 stars out of 5)
 The Secret of the Grain. So so foreign film about a man who pursues his impossibly expensive dream of opening a couscous restaurant. (3 stars out of 5)
